Canada ranked the most welcoming country in the world for immigration

A recently released survey by the American firm Gallup found that Canada is the most welcoming country in the world when it comes to accepting immigrants.

Last year, Gallup asked people in 145 countries around the world whether they thought immigrants living in their country, becoming neighbors and marrying into their families were good or bad things.

Canada received the highest score of 8.46 and was ranked first in the survey for the first time.

Canada's incredible landscape attracts many new immigrants each year.

In the last global survey conducted in 2016-2017, Canada came in fourth place, behind Iceland, New Zealand and Rwanda.

The index is based on three questions that Gallup asked in 140 countries in 2016 and 2017 and updated again in 145 countries in 2019. It is a sum of the scores for the three questions, with a maximum possible score of 9.0 and a minimum possible score of zero.

In Canada, residents almost universally view immigrants living in their country (94%) and being in their neighborhood (95%) as good things, while more than nine in ten (91%) said an immigrant marrying into their family would also be a good thing.
