How to renew your French passport in Canada?

A real jewel, your passport will become one of the most important documents to take care of during your experience abroad. It can also be a real headache for your administrative procedures in case of loss, renewal or change of family situation.

What do I do if I need a new passport before my stay in Canada with the IEC?

1. A new passport at the pool stadium

• If you have reached the pool stage and receive a new passport, there is no need to restart your entire license application or revoke your CGC. Simply remove your profile with the incorrect passport information (remove my profile tab) andreapply with an updated profile with the new passport information and your original account.

2. A new passport before the letter of introduction stage

• If you have applied but have not yet received your Letter of Introduction for the Port of Entry and have received a new passport because your old one expired or was lost/stolen, you must send a scanned copy of your new passport to IRCC.
  
  To do so, you can contact the services of Immigration Canada using the web form or the number available on the site. Please note that these channels are rare means of communication with IRCC services. They are therefore useful for all other requests and communications that you may wish to send to these services.
  

3. A new passport at the letter of introduction stage

• If you have already received your Letter of Introduction (congratulations!) and you are from a country that requires an AVE or VISA but your passport has expired, it is necessary to reapply for an AVE or VISA.
  
  In addition, IRCC Services advises that you bring your letter of introduction and your old passport with you to present to the immigration officer at the port of entry. Even if your permit has the old passport number, it is still valid.
  
  Also, if you have a new passport due to marriage or divorce, it is necessary to bring your marriage or divorce certificate.

4. Does your passport expire quickly before your EIC permit?

In any case, if you know that your passport will expire soon, we advise you not to start the EIC process directly, but rather to go through the passport renewal process, which may take some time to complete. In any case, you cannot go on an EIC trip without having a valid permit for the duration of your stay.

The risk of starting the EIC permit process with an expired permit is that you will not have time to renew it and you will be denied the invitation to enter the basins or face complications later.
