Safety and Reliability Specialist - Flight Control

The Safety and Reliability Specialist will be responsible for the safety and reliability activities of an avionics program related to the flight control system's on-board controllers. He/she is responsible for ensuring that the system architecture and controllers meet the safety objectives of the authorities' requirements (CS/FASxx.1309/Part21/Part23).

The incumbent will be responsible for demonstrating the ARP4754a/61 practices to our various customers.

Responsibilities

  • Safety and reliability assessment (PSSA / SSA, FMEA, FTA and CMA) of flight control systems and controllers (software and hardware) in accordance with ARP4754 / 61 practices.
  • Defines, negotiates and shares safety and reliability objectives and methods with the rest of the team, customers and partners.
  • Prepare, present and defend the safety and reliability plan to our customers.
  • Definition architecture
  • At the start of the project, participates in workshops on architectural choices
  • Identifies and formalizes safety and reliability requirements through specification documents
  • Participates in the validation of requirements and supports the verification process
  • Provides expertise to our customer's other entities and partners
  • Represents our customer on international standardization committees such as ASTM & EUROCAE
  • Assess the safety and reliability of concepts defined during the research phase
  • Evaluate safety and reliability activities during the tender phase
  • Introduces and explains the reliability and safety aspect for an audience uninitiated to safety and reliability aspects.
  • Acts as an expert for safety and reliability aspects during reviews by our customer's incident committee.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of aerospace standards
  • Experience in the design and certification of embedded equipment and systems.
  • Spoken and written English (able to write reports and communicate effectively)
  • Able to interact effectively with customers and suppliers.
  • Able to express ideas and popularize information, orally and in writing.
  • Good team spirit.
  • Organize work efficiently and independently

Training

  • Degree in aerospace engineering or equivalent with at least 8 years' professional experience.
