Responsibilities

The Heavy Equipment Operator is responsible for the safe operation and use of various types of heavy machinery used primarily in the construction, public works, excavation, earthwork, and landscaping sectors.

Depending on the position, the person may be required to operate various types of heavy equipment to perform excavation, grading, loading, material handling, or site preparation work.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate various types of heavy equipment in accordance with work procedures and safety rules;
  • Perform excavation, grading, earthwork, and material handling;
  • Handle and move soil, gravel, sand, stone, and other materials;
  • Perform loading and unloading tasks;
  • Check the overall condition of the equipment before using it;
  • Perform daily inspections and checks of the machinery;
  • Report any irregularities, defects, or maintenance needs;
  • Perform tasks accurately to ensure compliance with plans and project requirements;
  • Collaborate with the teams on-site;
  • Follow supervisors' instructions and established work procedures;
  • Keep equipment clean and in good condition;
  • Strictly comply with health and safety standards on construction sites.

Qualifications

  • Work experience operating heavy equipment;
  • Good knowledge of construction site safety rules;
  • Ability to perform precise and safe maneuvers;
  • Strong ability to follow plans, instructions, and work procedures;
  • Independence, vigilance, and a sense of responsibility;
  • Strong ability to work as part of a team;
  • Ability to work in various weather conditions and on-site environments;
  • Licenses or certifications required depending on the type of equipment and job requirements;

Training

  • Relevant training or experience in heavy equipment operation;
