Responsibilities

The Construction Mechanic is responsible for maintaining, inspecting, diagnosing, and repairing various pieces of equipment, machinery, and mechanical systems directly on construction sites or at the employer’s facilities.

The ideal candidate must be versatile and able to respond quickly to keep equipment in good working order and minimize production or construction downtime.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive maintenance and repairs on equipment and machinery at construction sites;
  • Diagnose mechanical breakdowns and malfunctions;
  • Perform repairs and replacements of mechanical parts;
  • Work on various systems: engines, transmissions, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems;
  • Perform daily inspections and checks of equipment;
  • Identify the causes of problems and propose appropriate solutions;
  • Perform disassembly, reassembly, adjustment, and fine-tuning work;
  • Use various diagnostic tools and equipment;
  • Perform work directly on construction sites when necessary;
  • Ensure that equipment operates properly and safely;
  • Keep maintenance and repair reports up to date;
  • Work with operators, supervisors, and other members of the construction crew;
  • Keep tools and work equipment in good condition;
  • Comply with health and safety standards and company procedures.

Qualifications

  • Relevant experience as a construction mechanic or in a similar field;
  • Good knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems;
  • Knowledge of electrical systems and mechanical diagnostics;
  • Ability to read blueprints, diagrams, and technical documents;
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills;
  • Independence, versatility, and a sense of responsibility;
  • Ability to work in various construction site environments;
  • Good physical condition;
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team;
  • A valid driver's license, as required by the position;

Training

  • Vocational or technical training in mechanics, industrial mechanics, heavy equipment mechanics, or a related field;
