Electrical engineer

The Electrical Engineer's mission is to provide technical support and services in the design, planning, study, evaluation, testing and commissioning of Fives and other equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Complete the sizing and design of various electrical systems (power, control and automation) for Fives equipment, overhead cranes and other industrial equipment.
  • Modernize, optimize and ensure regulatory compliance of electrical installations on Fives equipment, overhead cranes and other industrial equipment.
  • Research locally available electrical components to validate the replacement of obsolete components.
  • Technically supervise the work of electrical design technicians on an ad hoc basis, depending on their involvement in projects.
  • Provide technical support to suppliers and technical support to internal and external customers.
  • Actively participate in the development of the engineering department by improving our tools and methods.
  • Carry out equipment start-up work in workshops and factories.
  • Participate in the preparation of bids by developing preliminary concepts, estimating the hours of study required and writing technical descriptions of proposed solutions.
  • Manage small projects (quality, deadlines and costs)

Qualifications

  • 5 years' experience in industry;
  • Knowledge of the Canadian Electrical Code;
  • Knowledge of machine safety standards, including CSA Z432;
  • Experience in lifting equipment is an asset;
  • Fluency in spoken and written French and English;
  • Knowledge of Rockwell's Studio 5000 (RsLogix) and Factory Talk View PLC programming software an asset;
  • Knowledge of CCW, Zélio Soft and VMware Workstation is an asset;
  • A valid class 5 driver's license;
  • General health and safety on construction sites.

Training

  • BAC in electrical engineering;
  • Member of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ)
