Electrical technician

Reporting to the technical supervisor, the shift electrotechnician supports the plant's various production lines. He/she meets the quantity and quality standards required on a daily basis, in line with the set work schedule.

Responsibilities

Line troubleshooting :

  • Takes action to restart a problem line following a disturbance- breakage- malfunction or unplanned shutdown.
  • Receiving service calls
  • Diagnostics
  • Parts search and repair
  • Temporary modification of PLC program
  • Test-restart and assistance

Modifying, upgrading and adding equipment :

  • Carries out planned work arising from engineering or continuous improvement activities on various production equipment with the aim of improving line efficiency and performance.
  • Work generated by the planner and/or coordinator.
  • May be called upon to help assess feasibility.
  • May be called upon to participate in job preparation.
  • Responsible for testing and commissioning.

Preventive maintenance :

  • Checks and inspects electrical equipment to prevent defects and meet quality standards.
  • Instrument calibration.
  • Periodic inspections of electrical equipment.
  • Periodic cleaning of electrical equipment.
  • Preventive maintenance of electrical equipment.
  • Participates in the development and improvement of preventive maintenance sheets and plans.
  • Communicates any changes made or complications encountered to the teams responsible for the departments affected.
  • Assists departmental electrical technicians with manual updating of electrical plans and drawings affected by a change, and follows up computer updates with the systems group.
  • Enters time and operation details into maintenance software (SAP & Meta).
  • Participate in daily meetings over the last 24 hours (electrical department).
  • Can be contacted to develop an action plan for recurring problems & participate in DMAIC.
  • Before leaving at the end of the shift - if a problem remains unresolved - ensure that an action plan has been put in place.
  • Performs all other related tasks.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of Rockwell Automation product suites: Control Logix- Kinetix- Panel View- Power Flex.
  • Knowledge of production systems in a manufacturing environment.
  • Easy to learn new technologies.
  • Ease of problem solving and related technical processes.
  • Effective oral and written communication in French.
