Responsibilities
- Tests and observes electrical, electronic and mechanical components and systems using test and measurement equipment;
- Locates and repairs faults on electric motors, transformers, switchgear, generators and other electromechanical equipment;
- Tests, repairs or replaces faulty wiring or components in electrical switchgear;
- Tests repaired motors, transformers, switchgear or other electrical devices to ensure proper performance;
- Read plans, diagrams and schematics to determine how to proceed;
- Installs, laser-aligns, dismantles and moves stationary industrial machinery or mechanical equipment such as pumps, fans, tanks and conveyors, according to plans and using hand and power tools;
- Uses lifting devices and equipment, hoists, jacks and tractors, to position machines and parts during the installation, assembly and repair of machinery;
- Inspects and examines machinery and equipment for malfunctions and failures;
- Installs, troubleshoots and maintains power transmission, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, as well as programmable controllers;
- Adjusts machinery and repairs or replaces defective parts
- Uses machining tools, such as lathes, milling machines and grinding wheels, to manufacture the parts needed to overhaul, maintain or assemble machines;
- Plans and executes various equipment fabrication and repair jobs, using acetylene and electric welding equipment, brass and silver solder (fluid).
- Assembles machinery and equipment, using hand and power tools and welding equipment, before installing them;
- Performs thermographic analysis for prevention, problem solving and equipment safety;
- Performs ultrasonic analysis for prevention, problem solving and equipment safety;
- Cleans, lubricates and maintains machines;
- Refurbishes production equipment;
- Performs other work as assigned.
Qualifications
- 2 years' relevant experience in the following fields: mechanical, electrical, electronic, instrumentation and control;
Training
- Training in electromechanics for automated systems;
