Electrical designer

Our client is a world leader in the design and manufacture of equipment for the rapidly expanding field of recycling and waste management. They offer turnkey projects including state-of-the-art equipment. The company recently opened a new technology center, which houses the R&D, programming and artificial intelligence departments, as well as the production of high-tech equipment.

Reporting to the Electrical Design Supervisor and working in collaboration with the various electrical project managers, the Electrical Designer is responsible for developing control panel plans and participating in the various stages of their design/manufacturing.

The ideal candidate will have a natural inclination for team challenges and have a strong attention to detail and ability to manage schedule priorities.

Responsibilities

  • Design electrical drawings of control panels using EPLAN ProPanel CAD software, including drawings of control, power and industrial communication networks ;
  • Design the mechanical assembly drawings of the three-dimensional panels as well as their views and manufacturing drawings, always using EPLAN ProPanel ;
  • Participate in the design of industrial networks, control and safety of machines with the electrical project manager and managers
  • automation-control ;
  • Make the necessary corrections and improvements to the various basic projects and macros of the software;
  • Apply CSA, UL and CE standards for control panels to select and size the various components (protections, cables, transformers, power supplies, trunking, etc.).

Qualifications

  • Have an interest in electrical design, drafting and related work process improvement;
  • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously under tight deadlines and with projects of varying complexity;
  • Good knowledge of various computer tools (MS Office, Autocad, etc.);
  • Availability to perform site surveys and travel to our clients' locations on occasion;
  • Professional autonomy and resourcefulness;
  • Attention to detail and quality of work;
  • Enjoy working in a team environment.

Important assets:

  • Knowledge of the electrical CAD software ePlan ProPanel or ePlan P8 ;
  • Basic knowledge of SolidWorks CAD software;
  • Knowledge of the main equipment brands Schneider, Siemens, Beckhoff and Danfoss;
  • Knowledge of control panel assembly and related tasks.

Training

  • Degree in Industrial Electronics or Automated Systems Electromechanics with a few years of experience or any other combination of education and/or experience deemed equivalent.
